Performed AC diagnostic on 1994 carrier condensing unit. Upon my diagnostic I found that the system contain D restriction within the refrigeration cycle. 5 ton Carrier condenser- 1. Compressor was opening up on relief valve due to skyrocketing head pressure 2. Amp draw exceeded max rating of 28. Actual 35 3. Restriction must be located and fixed to take further steps to see condition of compressor once restriction is cleared 4. It is possible that even once restriction is cleared may occur again due to high amounts of debris within the refrigeration cycle. It is unknown how far these contaminates have reached. 5. System contained R22 refrigerant which was completely phased out January 1, 2020 Recommendations- 1.Perform repairs and locate restriction although this would be considered a Band-Aid repair for the meanwhile 2.
