Reviewed equipment in attic space ,9 year old Trane Tam air handler with 9 year old 16 seer ac unit. Measured all equipment to provide estimate. Looking for Cooling only options. Inspected wiring to outdoor unit, found broken wire to contactor from fan motor. Temporarily fixed wire to test. Found when unit started, suction pressure went below 40 psi for a second which caused contactor to jump off and on, when this happened the compressor reversed rotation. Bypassed pressure switches to test and checked system charge. Charge is good on unit . Left system to cool without pressure switches in the circuit. Recommend replacement and not repairing pressure switches at this time. Proposal will be emailed.
