I arrived for a blue member system not running. I first spoke with the homeowner and found that the outdoor heat pump will not run. I checked the systems operation and found that the thermostat was set to not operate the heat pump below 35 deg. I then explained the systems operation to the homeowner and how a heatpump system operates. They mentioned that the lights do dim when the heat pump kicks on. I offered to install a hard start kit on this system to help the system fight the start up amps. We decided to install the hard start kit on this system. I then cycled the system in heatpump mode and emergency mode and found no issues with the systems operation at this time.
