Came out to call to do an inspection of a furnace for repairs or replacement under home warranty claim. Checked system over and found multiple issues with the system. Initially, I couldn’t get the furnace to cycle on due to some burnt wiring in the burner compartment and wiring harness melted. I managed to get the inducer motor to work for a little bit, but it’s not functioning properly. The pressure switch is also stuck open and will not close without a good amount of negative pressure. The blower capacitor is at less than 50% capacity (6.1/12.5). Blower motor is over amping and in rough shape. Couldn’t locate a failure in the heat exchanger on initial inspection but it does have some hot spots. System is extremely dirty. Overall most of the components are needing replacement, and the wiring harnesses may not be available because of age of the furnace.
