Today I had the pleasure of maintaining a 10 year old Goodman heat pump. Upon arrival, homeowner stated that the system was working fine and the he changes his filters every 3 months. He provided 2 filters for me to replace. Once replaced, I verified system cleanliness. I found a dirty blower assembly and dirty ducts likely from pets. I then verified all amps temps and pressures. I found a failed 70/5 mfd capacitor in the condenser unit. I discussed my findings with the homeowner. I recommended replacing the capacitor and cleaning the blower assembly and ducts. I found that the homeowner had the capacitor replaced less than a year ago so I replaced. He declined the duct cleaning and blower assembly cleaning. All conditions otherwise normal at time of departure.
