Today I had the pleasure of maintaining a 13 year old carrier heat pump and condenser unit. Upon arrival, the homeowner asked about duct cleaning in regards to if it’s necessary and if it’s possible in his home. I explained that duct cleaning should typically be conducted every 3-5 years and that even though he has floor vents, duct cleaning is possible. He also had concerns with his REME HALO UV light. He wasn’t sure if it was operating and felt he needed to replace the bulb. I verified that the bulb was still illuminated and didn’t need to be replaced. He then asked about the process of rewrapping his return vents in the attic. I explained that we don’t typically rewrap ducts. He remembered that the last technician gave him a quote to replace the return ducts and stated he’d rather do it when he has to replace his system.
