Today I had the pleasure of conducting maintenance on a 17 year old Carrier system. Upon arrival , homeowner stated the system has been working fine. He also pointed out that he and his wife are pet lovers and have 9 pets in the home. I started by verifying system cleanliness. I found the blower assembly and ducts were dirty and in dire need of cleaning. I then verified all amps temps and pressures. I found the system inrush (LRA) was out of manufacturers specifications. It is not supposed to exceed 77 amps but I read it at 95.4 amps and recommended adding a hard start kit. Homeowner agreed but would like to discuss with his wife before moving forward with the recommendations. All conditions otherwise normal at the time of departure.
