Arrived to property for the unit not cooling. The tenant moved in a few days ago on Sunday. He noticed the temperature was not dropping and checked the filter. The filter was extremely dirty and causing significant airflow restriction. I proceeded outside and found the compressor to be in a lockout and not coming on. I also tested and found a failed dual capacitor. I called the landlord and we spoke briefly on the bandaid repair that needed to happen to get the unit on. We also discussed price but he was not interested in saving 10% with the maintenance agreement due to him having a work call. I did get verbal authorization to replace the failed capacitor only and will send another estimate for further compressor protection. I did replace the capacitor and further tested the unit. The compressor had extremely high start amps and this is why I am also presenting a compressor saver as an option.
