I arrived at our clients home due to air balance concerns. Mrs Perez showed me the rooms that she had concerns over. The downstairs bedrooms were not getting enough airflow while the upstairs bathroom and other vents were getting too much airflow. I proceeded into the upper attic area of the home and first verified that the ductwork had manual dampers which would allow for adjustments to be made. All runs do have dampers. I then noticed the existing bypass damper to have several tight bends which would actually restrict the airflow. I further confirmed that the existing 5 ton unit is undersized for the 2800sq ft home. I presented all of my findings to our client and we discussed adding an additional supply run and vent that would not be attached to either zones. This would allow for airflow over the loft and living room space and simultaneously alleviating the airflow for the upstairs zone.
