I arrived for a new customer no cool call. I spoke with the homeowner and found that the system stopped cooling and he replaced the thermostat and transformer. I inspected the system and found the transformer to have failed and a that there was a short to ground and it was still present. I explained I can trace the short out and replace the transformer to see where the power stops. The homeowner agreed to the repair and I replace the transformer and fuses the low voltage. I found the contactor on the condenser to have shorted to ground on the 24V coil side. I offered to replace the contactor and the homeowner wanted to get the part and replace it his self. I left the system correctly wired with the new transformer and the system in the off position. The homeowner will replace the contractor and clean the evaporator coil and blower motor. I explained that if the system is not up and running I cannot check the system to see how it will run and that the system needs to be cleaned. If you
