Replace gfci for water heater Replace kitchen duel function breaker Surge protection The reason for today’s visit was to assess a GFCI that is tripping for the water heater. Customer stated that the GFCI was tripping when it rains. After troubleshooting the issue we found that there is a GFCI underneath the water heater that is a dedicated circuit straight back to the panel. There’s also a GFCI to the left of the water heater that is labeled outside GFCI in which we went around testing all the outside plugs on. The left plug is indeed the GFCI for all the external plugs. I informed the customer that they should not plug the water heater into that as the outside plugs can trip when it rains. We went ahead and replaced the right TCI today to avoid an issue with that, however I informed them that there could be an issue inside the tankless water heater that is causing the GFCI to trip.
