Upon arrival homeowner stated that he noticed the outdoor unit it not running. I provided a call for cooling at the thermostat and proceeded outside. I noticed the outside unit was not running and checked the electrical components. I found the unit’s capacitor to be failing 24/40 on the compressor side. Client has 10 year P&L, I swapped out the capacitor with a new capacitor. After resetting the unit, i tested refrigerant pressures to ensure that there was no other concerns. Pressure were within range and temperature being supplied out of the unit inside was at 55 degrees. I did speak with the home owner about adding surge protection to his unit. He stated he would like to think about it. I provided estimate for adding surge protection. Unit was cooling upon departure.
