Outstanding service at a very reasonable price

I contacted Mason Air Conditioning after my air handler fan failed and my previous HVAC provider didn’t have anybody to send to my house late Friday afternoon. Mason dispatched John to diagnose my problem and fix it if possible. John was at my home within an hour. After assuring himself that I was comfortable, he went to the garage and discovered the problem. Initially, we talked about replacing the air handler fan, but at John’s suggestion, we then talked about replacing the entire system because of its age and lack of warranty. After hearing the price he quoted, which I thought was extremely reasonable, I decided to go ahead and replace the entire system. As promised, installers Mitch and Kevin showed up on time Monday morning and had my new system up and running that night. They returned this morning to finish some last details of the installation and clean up my garage. I have lived in Florida for more than 50 years and have used many home service contractors Mason Air Conditioning is by far the best contractor I have ever worked with. They have my highest personal recommendation. Their employee, John Breignan, offered some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. The installation was smooth, and the work was completed on time. If you are in the market for HVAC sales or service, look no further than Mason Air Conditioning.

Personal recomendation, Lewis & James

The good and the bad. Lewis, the owner of the company was on site with James, the tech, to assist with the installation of the warranty part om my 15 month old Daikin system. James had been onsite 4 days earlier and identified the leak in the coil of the air handler. James also recommended and i accepted 4.5k worth of duct work repair/replace on existing ductwork that is estimated to be 10-20 years old. I express my concern about a failure in a 15 month, relatively high end system to Lewis (at the time I did not know who he was, thought just another service tech). Lewis agreed with my concern and offered to comp the 1k out of warranty labor on the coil repair if I were to accept the duct work estimate. I agreed and we both came away pretty happy. Discussing with James, the reason for the failure on the coil, he stated the aluminum flare point where the copper line set attaches was cracked (hidden beneath the nut that attaches the two) One could argue that is an installation failure of overtightening, but I didn't see the crack so I left that decision in the hands of James in the hopes that if he does conclude an installation failure, he makes the other Mason Air techs aware, don't overtighten. EVERYTHING above is good, with the exception of the coil failure. The Daikin system has performed well int he 15 months and the smart thermostat that comes with the system in conjunction with the phone app that runs it are a good combinations that allow the homeowner control of schedule, geofencing (temp set back when owner is away) and manual override. The LED/LCD controls on the thermoset are also well designed.

Ductless mini split is not keeping room up to temperature. Only getting a 13° temperature differential between supply and return. There is not enough air movement going across coil due to blower wheel being extremely dirty and is throwing wheel off balance as well. Need to do a thorough cleaning on indoor head and recommended installing a UV light strip in inside mini split to prevent biological group from continuing to grow. After system is clean can check pressures properly to see if there is the right refrigerant level in system.

Condensing coil on both system is covered in golden retriever hair. Also the evaporator coils have a bunch of microbial growth and dog hair in there filters are also very dirty. Homeowner has two systems, advised them of the recommendation.

Diagnostic completed. Roof mounted 4t packaged system reading 364psig standing pressure. System significantly overcharged or has been charged with incorrect refrigerant type. System needs full reclaim evacuation and recharge with spec refrigerant type and amount before further diagnostic can be completed. System dates 2007 and repairs will be a significant portion of replacement costs. Further attempts at system repair are not recommended. Estimate provided to property management for both system recharge and system replacement. Awaiting further communication.

Water leaking from coffin box underneath air handler. Found clogged drain line and float switch was not shutting unit off. Replaced bad float switch under parts warranty, cleaned and flushed drain line, signed client up for annual membership. Need to schedule first tuneup.

Perform tuneup on two AC systems. Inspected indoor and outdoor coils, flushed drain lines, replaced air filters, inspected blower wheels, checked temperatures, checked static pressure, checked refrigerant pressures, inspected all major and minor electrical components. Both systems need to have UV bulbs replaced, surge protectors need to be installed, both systems have high compressor startup amps, first floor system has a weak capacitor, and is low on refrigerant. Gave client solutions for issues with system. Client needs to discuss with spouse and will get back to us. Cycled the and tested both systems, all operations OK at this Time.

Arrived to find free mini split head vibrating horribly when in operation. Made client aware system is out of warranty and that it needs a new blower motor and housing bracket. Collected half deposits and ordered awaiting for part arrival.

System not cooling adequately. Found evaporator coils, frozen, could not check pressures at this time. Rescheduled to come back out tomorrow morning to evaluate system and check refrigerant levels.

Insulation on copper line set does not reach all the way to the unit, so there is copper exposed and uninstalled in the attic. Need to come back with cork tape OR a 2 small sections of copper insulation. 3/4 and 3/8s. System is cooling but condensation from exposed copper is dripping into the emergency pan

Quote to clear and treat drain line. Treated drain line blew out with gas cleaned pan, tested with about a half gallon of water, delta t is 21 degrees. System is draining and cooling.
