Arrived onsite and the resident showed me to his doorbell which when he tried to install it shorted out the wiring in the wall and killed the transformer. I was able to test the doorbell wiring and the transformer for the system and it had no voltage. We went down in the basement and found and confirmed that transformer was giving off no voltage, and then we preformed our assessment as well. The house had no bonding in it, had a bad combo breaker, and was also missing surge protection. I wrote up all the options and he decided he wanted to wait on the surge protection today but get everything else done that i was recommending, so that’s what we did. I removed the old doorbell and pulled the wiring out, taped it up carefully and hooked it up and mounted the ring doorbell. I had Tyler install the transformer and told him where to land it in terms of the voltage range. While down there he took care of bonding while i swapped out the bad breaker.
