For this job, the customer requested installation of an outlet underneath of the sink for a water filtration system she had purchased. Upon arrival and inspection of the proposed installation location and the filtration unit itself, there were several concerns overall. Firstly, the garbage disposal and the kitchen sink contributed to a lot of ambient humidity inside that section of the cabinet without either in operation. Second, the filtration unit itself did not have a UL listing at all. Upon inspection of her main electrical panel, I observed that it was very full, overloaded, and outdated to be adding any circuits into at this time. After brainstorming with the customer on other locations in the limited space, and informing her of the options we could provide, to the extent of the drywall damage to run the dedicated circuit, she decided that she would most likely return the filtration system and look for a more space-efficient/safer design.
