Reason for today’s visit was to replace customer supplied foyer light as well as swap out a customer supplied smoke detector. We recommended customer install a dimmer switch so that they could control the brightness of the fixture. We installed the dimmer switch next to the front door and place of an old three-way. Well on site we swapped out a customer supplied smoke detector at the bottom of the stairs. Customer had already replaced other smoke detectors in the house. While performing my safety performance assessment I went through the main panel and found it in excellent condition the service cable was fully intact and properly sized. There was no rust or corrosion and there is still space to add circuits in the future. The only thing that was missing was whole home surge protection.
