Arrived on site, customer stated that unit was continuously running this morning and then around 1 the thermostat was not powered/wouldn’t run. Customer had breakers off initially. Checked wire connections and everything seemed tight. No water in the float switch. Noted thermostat was original and not from our install. Flipped breakers and everything powered on and began cooling. Allowed unit to run for about an hour with no issues. Measured supply temps around 55 degrees. Measured start amps and found that they were reading high. Also found significant burning on the condenser contactor. Recommended replacement to customer to avoid system failure. Marc elected to keep the contactor for now and had a soft start kit on hand he intended to install. Discussed with Marc that the issue must have been with the thermostat, as there are no other circuit boards in the unit that would cause this. Marc had a thermostat on hand as well and would perform the wiring himself.
