I arrived to the downstairs unit not cooling and with a blank thermostat. I immediately went into the attic and checked the water safety switch on the primary drain line. It had some residual water but was not engaged. I proceeded to test voltage from the furnace control board and was getting the correct power. The fuse was not blown and there was no evidence of any failed components the furnace. I went to the downstairs thermostat and checked for power. I was not getting any power to the thermostat. I then went back into the attic to try and trace the thermostat wire to find why it had failed or where it was cut and loosing power. I could not find anything as the attic had recently received new attic insulation. I explained my finding to Mrs Bailey and we discussed the option of changing and rewriting the thermostat as well as running new thermostat from the unit in the attic down to the first floor. She agreed to move forward with the bandaid repair and she is aware that other wire
