Arrived on site to perform heat pump diagnostic on 1980s York system. Upon arrival Gino stated that the system has been non-operational for three weeks and only runs for about two minutes before it shuts off. He mentioned that he had another HVAC guy doing his service but he is no longer responding to him at this time. Began diagnostic and found that unit will only run for about two minutes. Measured refrigerant pressures and found that high side pressure is skyrocketing and causing high pressure switch to trip. This is ultimately due to a restriction somewhere within the refrigeration cycle of the unit. A repair like this can become very costly and may not even guarantee extra life for the unit. It is apparent that repairs in the past have been done as well. Inspected indoor air handler and found that there was no platform.
