Pride Plumbing was called out for the pilot light going out on a 40-gallon Rheem PROG40-36P RH62 gas water heater and the customer not being able to relight it. We removed the unit's burner assembly, cleaned its thermocoupling, and reestablished a spark. When we reinserted the burner assembly and attempted to relight the water heater, we discovered that the unit's AP14269E-1 gas valve was defective. We provided a cost estimate to replace it.
