I arrived at our clients home for the upstairs unit not cooling properly. Our client controls the thermostat remotely and after turning it on I was able to begin testing and inspecting the equipment. I verified the indoor attic unit to come on and send proper signal outside. At the outdoor condenser I was losing power to turn on the unit. I checked the electrical components and found that the system had a pressure switch that was open and not allowing power to pass properly. I shared my finding with our client and she did authorize me to bypass the pressure switch to turn on and test the outdoor condenser unit. Once on I was able to test and measure the Freon pressures in the system. The pressures are extremely low and reflect a leak in the system. The compressor also has extremely high start amps, Almost past manufacture limit. This is caused by the system not having Freon and the extra demand from the compressor motor. It is only cooling with a 6° drop and the industry standard is 2
