Connect pressure gauge to a hot water heater at arrival And made sure all sinks are closed and there is no call for hot water Raise temperature on water heater to fire main burner- Water Heater is on and running Quickly found that when the water heater is on that the pressure is rising to 150 psi and discharging the system relief valve The expansion tank on the domestic hot water side is bad and needs to be replaced Closed valve to the existing expansion tank and release pressure from the system Remove the bad expansion tank from system piping Installed and secured brand new expansion tank for domestic hot water on cold water supply feed- Open valve back to new Expansion tank Confirm no leaks Raise temperature on water heater
