I performed cooling maintenance today on a Lennox split system. Upon arrival, the system was fully operational. I tested all mechanical, safety and performance systems. All electrical components are operational and tested in range except for the condensers starter whose resistance value has dropped to 12 ohms with an average value for this component testing at 18-20. -The solution is to replace this starter component. Secondly, the compressors starting amps tested in the upper region of its range at 96 amps, with its max starting amps rating being 112 amps. -The solution for this is to add a compressor assist kit. (Manufacturer recommended after 5 years). Lastly, the system’s static pressure tested at 2.44 wc, significantly over its allowed rating of 0.5 wc. This is due to the ductwork being undersized. -Replacing the ductwork is the best way to address this issue.
