Performed QA on Trane Heat Pump/Air Handler install. Reviewed installation with homeowner. She mentioned that there was a noise coming from the return register in the hallway. She also mentioned that before her old system had low airflow everywhere and now some vents have a lot of air and other are still lower. When I went into the attic I checked all of the take offs and none of the, have dampers installed to adjust/balance airflow. Also found they used R-4 Flex in the attic instead of R-8. Checked the return filter grills and the filters need to be changed. Also found she is using MERV-10 or higher filters. Let her know to not use above MERV-8 filters and to see if that stops the noise. She is going to order new filters and change herself. Filter sizes are: 12x12x1 and 12x20x. Also let her know about the dampers and the ductwork in the attic. I recommended that she have all the ductwork reinsulated and new flex duct ran with dampers installed.
