Performed cooling maintenance on a 2017 Carrier system Capacitor failed on outdoor unit Replaced capacitor Tore down and washed outdoor unit 16x25x1 filter is new Blower is clean Drain is clear Refrigerant charge is good Found exhaust for furnace is installed incorrectly. 2 to 3 inch bell reducer is in a horizontal run, this will make the exhaust pipe hold water and could cause the furnace to stop operating Found natural draft water heater improperly vented out the exterior wall and water heater is not venting properly. This is an extreme carbon monoxide risk. No existing B-vent flue that has been abandoned There is an electrical outlet over the water heater. It appears the house originally had a power vent gas water heater and someone installed an atmospheric tank instead... and ran B vent out the space where the power vent PVC exhaust pipe was. We will send quotes for the furnace exhaust repair as well as a new power vent hot water tank.
