We can't say enough great things about our experience with Cody B! He recently completed a big 4 day project at our house and truly went above and beyond. From start to finish, he was hardworking, incredibly nice, and always made sure to check in and communicate clearly every step of the way. Needed to replace old outdoor faucet suddenly and Matthew from Chen plumbing did it along with another copper pipe repair quickly and professionally. My only regret is that he couldn’t replace the drywall nor recommend a company to do so.

We had water leaking from our front yard after a freeze. We expected a big price tag and lot of digging in the yard (maybe after it thawed a few days later). We were very pleased that Juan opted to do a full investigation of our pipes as they entered and exited the house and meter. He found an old unused irrigation line and checked that without any digging! The problem was solved in an hour, he capped it to prevent further issues, and the cost was a fifth of what we feared. We were very grateful and impressed by his professionalism. The company themselves were responsive, understood the urgency, and were easy to schedule with. They even sent a picture of the technician coming out so we felt secure when he arrived.

Replaced expansion tank. Increased water pressure to 75 psi. Repiped cold side of water heater to correct 2 minor leaks. Adjusted scald guard in upstairs guest bathroom. Left quotes for options for filtration system.
Shut down water to home at meter. Existing main shut off for home in basement area is post pressure reducing valve. Drain down potable water system and cut out main gate valve and three-quarter inch PRV. Replace in proper order with new three-quarter inch pro press ball valve before pressure reducing valve. Install Moen flow three-quarter inch on system as well. Pressurize system slowly and test for leaks. Chen plumbing is not responsible for wireless set up of flow by moen.
Kitchen trim work , faucet , disposal , dishwasher hook up with new 2” drain thru cabinet to basement hook up
Customer stated they wanted new water line. Landscapers ran new line and required us to tie in at the meter and inside home. Connected water line at the meter and to irrigation. Inside home we connected new water line to existing line. Turned on water and tested for leaks under pressure. Bleed air out of system as best we can. No leaks were present at this time. Used hydraulic cement around penetration hole. Cleaned up work area.
Customer that that they had leaking coming from master bathroom. Cut Sheetrock to trace back where leak was coming from and found it to be coming from master bathtub. Cap water lines going to tub and also installed new main house water shut off valve. Tested and no leaks were present at this time. Cleaned up work area.
Price is to furnish gas control valve under warranty and install for a 50% discounted labor rate (per Tim) to correct temperature fluctuations. 4/9/25 Returned and installed a new gas control valve for water heater under warranty replacement for the part. Tested work to ensure proper function and no leaks. None were found. Set temperature to around 115-125 degrees at tap and tested shower while other water was running to see if any issues were still occurring. Had customer feel the water while the tub was run to ensure there wasn’t a surge of hot water like was previously happening. Customer confirmed there wasn’t.
Customer mixing issues with a shower cartridge in the master shower. Also experience large temperature fluctuations. Replaced the Moen shower cartridge and tested. The mixing is correct but there is scalding risks when other water is run. The Moen valve doesn’t appear to be pressure balancing to allow hot and cold water to be distributed evenly. But the water is also abnormally hotter than it should be. Temperature tested a tub and the water was over 150 degrees hot. Diagnosed this as a gas control valve malfunction. Ordered a new part under warranty so there’s no charge for the part, and discounted install by 50% due to a lot of work being done in the home recently. Made customer aware that shower valve replacement may be necessary for a proper repair even after temperature is corrected. Also may need to address prv due to large pressure drop on system.
Roughed in drain, vent, and water for downstairs sink
Price is to replace cast line through wall to crawlspace where two inch line ties into 3 inch vertical pipe. Will also replace about 30 feet of 3 inch cast going from crawlspace door to just before two inch transitions for kitchen group. Also run new kitchen line through the floor and install new washing machine box with new trap through the floor to new 3 inch pvc line. All other connections besides the kitchen sink and washing machine will be cut and connected to below the floor. Customer is responsible for any repairs made to cuts in the drywall and floor that can’t be covered or put back. 4/7/25 Returned and removed all cast in crawlspace from where three inch vertical stack goes into ground all the way to the washing washing machine. Replaced all horizontal cast and capped both copper lines under the kitchen sink. Ran a new pvc line through the floor to the new 3 inch pvc. Capped the vent on the roof above the kitchen also. Ran three inch off horizontally from the kitchen tie in
Replace winterization valve and front hose bib as well as cutting out two saddle valves on three-quarter inch line and repairing.
Customer had a slow draining tub. Noted to customer age and condition of the waste and overflow for the tub, as well as cast pipe going into the crawlspace. Recommended replacing the waste and overflow as a first step. Replaced the waste and overflow as the first step and tested the tub. Drain is still slow. Recommended replacing the rest of the 2 inch to the crawlspace as the next step to get the drain working. Customer wasn’t able to commit to replacing the line right now, customer requested replacing the two turns on 45s before the vertical pipe to see, completed the cast repair. Tested work and drain was still backing up but took awhile. The next step is to replace the cast line into the crawlspace. Left quotes to perform that work, as well as two other options for replacing cast that had rust marks all the way to the kitchen where the drain line is rusting and closing back up, as well as a proactive price to replace the kitchen line and laundry line.
Leak in ceiling of kitchen. Cut Sheetrock behind tub and found leak at tub shoe. Tub shoe was initially installed handtight. Removed tub shoe to replace gasket and putty. Filled tub and allowed to sit for ten minutes to test. Drained tub and verified no leak.
Main line backed up to basement bathroom tub and toilet , removed toilet , snake cleared blockage , camera and found blocked by heavy paper like rag / wipe type material, also snaked tub drain from overflow plate .
Inspected toilet and question and gave customer options for replacement or pulling and resetting toilet
Replaced pressure regulator due to age and low pressure. Replaced expansion tank and properly supported and inflated due to code. Replace vent pipe due to issues with original installation. Installed customer furnished sink and faucet with new disposal. Rerouted kitchen drain line to address improper height of previous drain coming from wall. Installed air admittance valve to increase venting airflow through drain system. Replaced original whole home shutoff and Hosebib shutoff due to poor appearance of those items.
