Jackhammered front steps and concrete walkway. Dug down 6 feet to the line. Found cast iron line was broken at the foundation wall and was rotted out on bottom side. Removed cast iron and replaced with pvc. Installed new two way cleanout. Sealed foundation wall with hydraulic cement and a rubber sealant in the exterior. Code enforcement arrived and we had to pull a permit for the repair. Pulled permit and returned with inspector. He wanted a hydrostatic test done on our 10’ repair. We left and found an inflatable test plug. Stopped the line up and filled it with water. Confirmed no leaks in the line. Inspector gave us the go ahead to back fill the repair. Backfilled the removed soil, tamping every 12 inches. No further issue at this time.
