Client called us out today due to their basement bathroom toilet backing up when flushed. Basement plumbing is on a sewage ejector pump, which is located in the mechanical room behind the water heater, under the staircase. We bypassed the float on the old pump to try to empty the pit some, and the old pump just hummed and didn’t do anything. Pump failure. We replaced the failed sewage ejector pump with new zoeller 4/10 hp sewage ejector pump, and also replaced the old ball valve and check valve with the replacement. Sat new pump in pit, then put the lid back on. Got the lid set in place where it needed to be, and fastened it back down. Connected the new discharge pipe from the pump up to the existing line and installed the new ball valve and check valve. Once all connections were made, we let glue set up for approximately 15 mins, then tested vigorously with paper also. Everything is running as it should with the new pump.
