Only option was replacement, so we replaced the failed water heater with new rheem pro series 50 gal nat gas water heater, installed up to code with new gas flex and gas shutoff, new ball valves on hot and cold side, new properly supported and sized thermal expansion tank, and a new pan under the new water heater. Once all connections were made, filled up the tank. Got all air out of the unit, then lit it. Water heater fired right up and is working as it should. Home water pressure is good right at 60 psi, safe range is 50-79 psi. Water heater standard replacement comes with 6 yr manufacturer warranty and 2 yr parts and labor warranty from us.
