Client called us out today due to the old cast iron kitchen sink drain leaking from the ptrap which was located in the basement area below. The whole drain system is still cast iron and the way the kitchen was tied in was not correct. We cut the 3”x2” cast iron tee out and a little section of pipe. After doing that, noticed the old piping was all coated on the inside with corrosion and gunk from over the years. I grabbed my small ridgid flexshaft and cleared all that out that I could see from above the pipe. Sprayed water down, and washed it out as well. Replaced with new pvc 3”x2” sanitary tee and 2 no hub couplings to adapt to the cast iron. We drilled new 2” hole through the kitchen cabinet for the new 2” kitchen drain. Completely reworked the drainage pipe under the sink, added a new tee and added a new studor vent under the sink as well, even though I did tie the old vent back in to the main.
