Arrived on site to perform diagnostic on a 2000 york unit. Client stated they just recently tried to fire up unit about a 2 weeks ago and when they turned it on and unit created a loud noise and got worried so shut unit off. Called us out. Jumped on roof and inspect electrical compartment. Jumped unit at the roof units and got heater working. Jumped cooling and found condenser fan motor seized up. Inspect rest of unit. Found primary starter is pitted from operation. Start up is old. Blower assembly and wheel is really dirty. Found blower motor leaking oil and have a lot of oil and dirt build up. Advised motor can fail In future. Advised to client of overall condition and how unit is running and repairs needed. Advised to them now is the time to consider full system replacements due to the age, condition, r-22, repairs and recommendations needed. Compared to full system. Client understands they unit is very old and doesn’t want to spend money into old unit and can still risk failing.
