Arrived on site to perform maintenance on 1989 system. On arrival, homeowner stated that she needed a diagnostic and a maintenance. Advised that we would start with the diagnostic first to see what was going on with the unit, and then once the unit was operational we would perform the maintenance. Cycled system for cooling. Indoor and outdoor unit are coming on like normal, but system is not cooling. Performed diagnostic and thorough evaluation of system, findings are as follows 1. System is low on refrigerant. Homeowner recalled that she added refrigerant to the system about 7 years ago, but it leaked out the following year and hasn’t used it since 2. System uses old style R-22 refrigerant, which has been phased out. It is still available, but it is extremely expensive 3. Indoor blower wheel and motor is very dirty, and has been leaking a lot of oil 4. Ducting system is very old netting type of duct, and it is producing very poor air quality inside the home. 5.
