Performed diagnostic on 2002 Lennox system. Homeowner states system is not cooling, outdoor unit is not coming on. Cycled system for cooling. Indoor unit comes on, outdoor unit is unresponsive. Checked outdoor unit electrical and system components. Found that low voltage wire was chewed up where it comes out of the house, rodents most likely chewed up the wire. Advised homeowner wiring would have to be fixed. There is enough wiring left to where we can add a piece of wiring and run to the condenser, however outer jacket on wire is gone. Went over findings and recommendations with homeowner. Best option would be to re run new wire inside of a flex pipe to keep rodents away from it. Homeowner wants to go with the immediate repair for now, her husband will most likely be running wire and pipe when he comes home from deployment. Did wiring repair on unit.
