Arrived on site to perform spring tune up on a unknow age unit looks to be original to home. Condenser located in attic. Client stated unit is running good just is really old. Cycled unit and washed condenser inside and out. Unit was really dirty due to tress above unit. Checked electrical compartment and found primary starter burnt up due to be original. Fan motor has been leaking a lot of oil in past as motor bearing are starting to seize up due to over working and age. Motor could fail at any time due to how hard it’s working. Recommend replacing primary starter and secondary controls and the fan motor to help system reduce the stress put on compressor. Start up are at max and not good from age. Run amps are pulling 20 amps and advised is not good as Compressor is working really hard and is at max amps. Run amps should be low to show compressor is not over working or under a lot of stress.
