Arrived on site to diagnose a 2000 units original to home. Client stated to start is not cooling home. He had had som repairs done in past as he last replaced a part last summer. Cycled unit and system was not operational and tripping breaker. Advised client I would inspect unit. Found secondary motor control is completely dead and when turned on wood trip breaker as compressor kept trying to turn on but wouldn’t. Also found primary burnt up and pitted due to age and condition. Secondary completely bad. Fan motor has been leaking oil in past as motor is covered in oil and pulling max amps. Compressor starting up hard. Recommend compressor booster kit to help keep start ups low. Run apps pulling 15 and max rated at 24. System is cooling hole at 20 degrees. No protection on unit and recommend adding surge protectors to unit to protect from electrical surge and power outages. Went over all findings and recommendations with client and areas of concerns.
