Performed diagnostic on Carrier system. Homeowner states that his system is operating fine, but it is really loud when it is running. System is located in upstairs hall closet. Cycled system on, system came on normally and started heating. System is not making any abnormal sound, it is just loud. Took temperatures and amperage draws. Indoor blower motor is pulling in high amps, meaning that it is working harder than it should therefore causing it to be louder. Blower wheel is also extremely dirty, also adding weight to the wheel and more stress to the motor. Secondary motor control has been previously replaced and is in range. System is a single stage system zoned off into 2 zones, which is not ideal. Overall, system is performing as it should but it’s age is contributing to it being louder. Replacing fan motor and cleaning blower wheel will help bring noise level down , but might not bring it down as much as homeowner would like it to. Went over the advantages of a new system, as we
