Performed Spring Maintenance on 2 2005 Systems. Cycled systems for cooling. Checked outdoor unit electrical and system components. Pulled condenser motors to thoroughly wash out condenser coils, which were extremely dirty. Replaced 1 inch filters. Homeowner states that upstairs system seems like it is not working very efficiently. Checked refrigerant levels for unit and found them to be low, and also pressures are equalized. Checked compressor and found it pulling high amperage. Based on the equalized refrigerant pressures and high compressor amp draws, this compressor is going out. Checked downstairs unit electrical and amp draws. Refrigerant levels are good for downstairs unit. Went over findings and recommendations with homeowners. Homeowners are leaning more towards repair. If homeowners go with replacing the upstairs system, primary and secondary motor control from this unit will be taken off and swapped into the downstairs unit.
