Arrived on the job site. The customer stated that the breaker controlling the Christmas lights in the eaves was tripping randomly. I inspected the circuit and found that it was on a Siemens plug-on-neutral AFCI/GFCI combination breaker. When testing each individual set of Christmas lights, they worked fine, but when all three were plugged in together, the breaker would trip. Because this circuit feeds exterior outlets, it does not require AFCI protection. I replaced the breaker with a UL-listed Siemens 15-amp CL standard breaker. I also verified the home run feeding the GFCI outlet to the left of the panel, which supplies power to the new timer controlling the eave outlets. The timer was preset to turn on at 6 p.m. and turn off at 4 a.m. The customer is 100% happy and satisfied with today’s visit and understands that all work performed comes with a five-year warranty on labor and materials.
