Arrived on site, and the customer stated they were interested in installing a generator interlock and inlet connection. Upon inspection, I found the existing electrical panel to be outdated and showing signs of severe heat damage. I also informed the customer that there is insufficient space to add a generator inlet breaker, as the panel is already at maximum capacity with tandem and two-pole breakers. I explained that the only viable solution—especially to safely install a generator system—would be to replace the main breaker panel, which is outdated and in need of replacement. I provided a proposal to replace the 200-amp main breaker panel with a lifetime warranty, replace the electrical meter base with a lifetime warranty, and install a new 200-amp exterior service disconnect for first responders, also with a lifetime warranty.
