- preform diagnostic on electric water heater due to currently no working. Tested upper thermostat with power on ( 240v+ opposite screws good ) Tested lower thermostat with power on ( 120v+ per screw/ ground good ) Turned power off and tested upper and lower elements ( tested at 12.5 ohm good ) Let the heater warm up as soon as the hot top element got hot enough. The bottom is supposed to kick on and that is when the breaker tripped. Did let homeowner know issue may be on electrical side as all test passed for any electrical testing points on the unit. ** replaced handle on outside faucet behind laundry due to sub breaking the handle ( no charge ) ** ** scheduled electric for customer for this afternoon to check the electric side of this issue. Their diagnostic cost will not be the same as ours. Did write up an estimate for both thermostats and elements just in case
