Arrived on site, and the customer reported that the downstairs doorbell chime was not functioning properly. The customer believed the issue was due to the doorbell not communicating with the chime and requested replacement of the chime using a customer-supplied unit. The chime was replaced as requested. The customer was advised that a full diagnostic of the low-voltage circuit between the doorbell transformer and the chime would be required to properly identify the root cause; however, the customer declined further troubleshooting and elected to proceed only with the chime replacement. After installation, the doorbell still did not communicate with the chime. It was observed that the doorbell displayed a solid red light. Upon reviewing First Alert documentation, a solid red indicator light signifies a low battery condition, typically caused by the chime adapter not being installed during the initial setup.
