Arrived on-site, and the customer stated that they had been out of town and noticed upon returning home that their AC condenser was not working properly. Performed a lightning electrical safety inspection throughout the home to ensure everything was functioning correctly. While checking the outlets, noticed that they were wrapped and tied in, but nothing was damaged except for the customer’s Peloton bicycle, indicating that a surge had come through the panel. Informed the customer that the existing surge protector failed to perform as intended and is also out of code. Explained that the builder-grade surge protectors installed in panels often give a false indication of protection. Recommended replacing the surge protector along with addressing other safety concerns found during the inspection. The customer stated they would like some time to consider the options and chose to proceed only with the safety evaluation for now. The customer was 100% happy and satisfied with today’s visit.
