Found system low on charge and was freezing up. Checked air filter at furnace was clean and blower was running. System is about 8 years old. Went outside to outdoor unit to check refrigerant pressures. 410a refrigerant pressures were 287/70 at 88 degrees. System is low on charge. Recommend to homeowner that we charge up system and add leak dye to try to locate where leak is. Homeowner agreed so added 2lbs 15oz of r-410a to the system. Pressures are now 342/128. And has a 20 degree split inside. Also injected leak dye and let homeowner know that we need to return in 30 days to see if we can locate the refrigerant leak. System is back up and working at this time but we do not know the longevity of the refrigerant charge.
