Service call that the AC was not working for apartment 102. Upon arrival found thermostat calling for cooling but was not meeting temperature. Checked Blower Motor and Air Filter. Proceeded to the rooftop to further diagnose. On the roof, the Outdoor Fan was running but the compressor was not operating. Tested capacitor and inspected wiring. Found Compressor was out on Thermal Overload. With no way to cool the compressor down, turned breaker off for the Outdoor Unit. The compressor needs to cool down and the thermal overload needs to reset. The compressor going out on thermal overload may indicate that the compressor has locked up and failed. Cannot further diagnose the system with the compressor in overload. Would need to return to diagnose after the compressor has cooled down and reset.
