Service call that the Hot Water Heater was working intermittently. Arrived onsite and spoke with Homeowner about issue. Proceeded to the Basement to diagnose the Water Heater. Found the Water Heater was at Temperature and the Thermostat was satisfied. Found a corrosion covering the Ignitor Assembly. Shut the Water Heater Down and cleaned the Ignitor and the Burner area of the Water Heater. Put Water Heater back in operation to test. Cycled the Water Heater Multiple times to ensure that it was firing off properly. Tested the Thermostat Control on the Water Heater to ensure it was shutting the system on and off properly. Water Heater Thermostat was setting to the Medium Heating Setting. Water Heater is dated from 1997 making it about 21 Years old. Average life span of residential Water Heaters is 10-12 Years. Due to the age of the Water Heater overall recommendation would be to replace before any further issues arise. Included an estimate for the Installation of a new Water Heater.
