Homeowner described pattern of furnace running and shutting off intermittently without satisfying thermostat set point. There were no error codes at control board of Amana furnace. Checking supply temperature found temp of 140 and climbing. Thoroughly inspected system: Checked pressure switches/ inducer draft. Checked wiring. Found very dirty 413 filter. Explained to homeowner that dirty filters restrict airflow and cause high supply air temperature and causes heat exchanger to reach temperatures higher than the limit of the high limit switch. High limit has been opening and unit has shut down on soft lockout through the day. Homeowner mentioned that some remodeling work was done re entry which could have contributed to dirty filter. Recommended becoming plan member and replacing filter. Homeowner agreed to replace filter and renew plan membership. After replacing filter tested system checking temperature rise and static pressure; GOOD. System is operating well at the time of
