Service call that the Indoor Coil was freezing and the system was not cooling. Homeowner shut AC off for the night and ran the fan to defrost the indoor coil. Inspected coil to ensure it was free of ice. Put system in operation to test. Measured a 7 degree temperature split between Supply air and Return Air. Measured refrigerant charge which was low and below the freezing point. Added 2lbs of R-22 Refrigerant to system charging by Superheat standards. Recommended Superheat was 18 degrees, charge system to a 7 Degree Superheat. Supply Air and Return Air split increased to 18 degrees. Checked Condensation Drain Line and blew through. Poured 1 Cup bleach through drain line to help clean. Refrigerant was added to system 2 months ago, indicating that the leak is starting the increase. Recommend replacement of the full Furnace/AC system before any further issues. Joe will follow up to review the original proposal for system replacement that was provided.
