Dispatched for a furnace and blower system that were not operating. After completing a thorough inspection, it was found that the burner assembly was heavily corroded and deteriorated. The condition of the burners was causing improper flame carryover and uneven combustion inside the heat exchanger. This poor combustion created excessive moisture, acidic byproducts, and abnormal heat within the furnace. Over time, these conditions caused corrosion inside the venting system and placed extreme strain on the draft inducer motor. As a result, the draft inducer seized and was no longer able to properly remove flue gases from the system, preventing safe operation of the furnace. All findings and safety concerns were reviewed in detail with the homeowner, along with available repair and replacement options.
