We were called out to the home due to the back up heat, the heat strips, were running too long. Customer did not have this issue in previous years however, the ecobee thermostat is new. I checked the settings on the thermostat and found that the thermostat was said so that the compressor in the heat pump does not run below 35°. I changed that setting down to 10° so that way the heat pump will run with the heat strips in the colder weather if need be. After changing the setting, I checked out the heat pump in test mode to make sure that the heat pump ran fine. All checks on the heat pump passed inspection. I then turned thermostat to regular heat mode to make sure that the thermostat turned on the heat pump first before turning on the heat strips. Thermostat went through its proper procedures turning on the heat pump first. System is operating within manufacture specifications at departure. Air filter is about five months old so I checked it and it’s OK for now however, I recommended c
