Received a call that the first floor system was keeping temperature however the humidity level was extremely high in the space, upon arrival I confirm that the temperature in the room was at 70° however the humidity level was at 78%. When up on the roof and checked out the system, the new units were installed in 2021 and as part of the direct energy replacement program they needed to have a unit economizer installed. The unit economizer is an internal control that delays the start of the cooling or heating process by 5 minutes to help extend cycling of the system and help extend run time when the unit is running. What I noticed is that the economizer is only connected to the stage 1 cooling and on a call for cooling stage 2 is cycling on at full capacity while stage 1 is in its delay mode. Stage 2 should not be starting until there's a temperature differential in the space to help prevent overcooling and short cycling of the unit.
